“Have the courage of being your genuine self, of standing alone and not wanting to be somebody else.” - Lin Yutang

In today’s world, people are judged not based on who they are, but where they come from, which is a corruption of humanity. When I moved back to Pakistan in 1997 from the United States, I came with the same misconceptions that everyone living in the Western world has; a backward country with nothing to offer. What I found was that not only was I wrong in my view, but the impression created about Pakistan is so far from the truth that it is humorous.

I present a different version of the story than what the media would like you to believe. I grew up and spent the first 25 years of my life in the United States getting an education, working and living with the media sterotypes of Muslims and Pakistanis. I am an educated Muslim, and a Proud Pakistani that is not a terrorist or a religious extremist, much like the other 150 million people that are part of this great nation. I do understand that most people will be challenged by the information that is on this blog, but I challenge you to look beyond what the media presents as the image of Pakistan and Muslims to see that Pakistan is like every other country of the world that struggles with its own internal issues.
