I don’t know how many of you are familiar with the work that dropping knowledge has been doing in the recent past but since we believe in educated, intelligent discussions, I would like to introduce this organization to you. dropping knowledge is dedicated to social change through shared knowledge, discussion and understanding, or as they put it on their website, “the global initiative to turn apathy into activity.”

The reason that I am bringing them to your attention is because of the event that was held in Berlin yesterday, the Table of Free Voices. This event brought together 120 members from education, social welfare, arts & entertainment, media, technology and government to answer 100 questions that had been selected from the over 20,000 questions that were submitted. Each of the participants was asked to provide their views in relation to questions ranging from education, social welfare, economics, globalization and conflict to name a few. The event itself was streamed live from their website and the answers are currently being transcribed to be made available from their website in the coming days.

As a mirror of the event, dropping knowledge has launched a forum and a blog to facilitate the further discussion of each question that has been submitted. They have made membership free and if you have a question, you can submit it for discussion or you can comment on any question that has already been submitted.

This is a great effort and I firmly believe that if more people started to believe that global problems are solved with discussion, not tanks and bullets, the world would be a better place. Please take a moment to visit and browse their website. The worst that could happen is that you could become a better person.

“When you ask in order to understand, when you answer in order to share, you are dropping knowledge.”
